Personally, I don’t know why August 18 is called National Soft Ice Cream Day. I’ve never heard of soft ice cream. Soft serve ice cream, on the other hand, is my favorite!
Kept at a lower temperature, soft serve ice cream is (surprise! surprise!) softer, and it comes in pretty swirls. There’s quite a debate about who was the first person to make soft serve, but it was most likely done in the 1930s either by Tom Carvel of Carvel Ice Cream or by J.F. and Alex McCullough of Dairy Queen (more info here).
So, now that you know that, there’s only one question. Chocolate, vanilla, or swirl?
“How sweet are your words to my taste,
sweeter than honey to my mouth!”
