On August 19, 1871, Orville Wright was born in Dayton, Ohio. Then, thirty-two years later, on December 17, 1903, he completed the first true human flight, with his brother Wilbur.
Now, we celebrate National Aviation Day or Wright Brothers Day every August 19. Believe it or not, this is one of the few national days we deal with that actually are national. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt made the day official in 1939.
“I said, “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest.”
Psalm 55:6
