February 17: Random Acts of Kindness Day

Get ready. February 17 is Random Acts of Kindness Day. Today is not a one good deed day (sorry, Dilbert). It’s time to call a friend, send a card, hold the door open, wash the dishes, pay for the car behind you, or generally do whatever kind things you can think of – a “senseless acts of beauty.”

One thing to note before you do though: don’t expect anything! Some people will thank you and make you feel great. Others will feel very uncomfortable. Some might try to take advantage of your kindness. Just remember, you are only responsible for your own actions. Do the right thing, and thank God for every bit of thanks that comes your way.

Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

1 Peter 2:12

*In case you’re confused, some local groups celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day on other days throughout the year. Many others, such as the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation¬†celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week throughout the week of February 17.
