March 9: Panic Day and Get Over It Day

Somehow March 9 has become known as Panic Day and Get Over It Day. Since these celebrations seem to be diametrically opposed, I propose that we all begin the day in complete and total panic – running around, screaming, leaning on the horn in traffic (maybe not), tears (not just tears but hysterical, almost hyperventilating sobs), and a bit more screaming just to polish it off. (Don’t tell me that sounds like a normal morning!)

Then, later in the day when you feel you’ve yelled away all your panic, just get over it for Get Over It Day. Breathe in, breathe out, and let it go.

Get Over It Day was originally created by Jeff Goldblatt (also the creator of Rejection Hotline) to help him get over his old girlfriend, but it seems to be a pretty good day to get over anything – a family member’s angry words, the mechanic/lawyer/fill-in-the-blank that cheated you, even the promotion that passed you by. As many others have said before me, it’s time to just let go, and let God.
