March 26 has got to be one of my favorite non-traditional holidays (nothing can beat Thanksgiving or Christmas, but this has knocked holidays like National Chocolate Raisin Day and National Battery Day down for the count!).
Happy Make Your Own Holiday Day everyone!
Here’s the plan:
- pick something you love or a cause you care deeply about
- see if there’s already a holiday for it (hint: there probably is!)
- make plans to celebrate it with friends and family
- if you’re really into this, you can contact city officials, local restaurants and shops, or your newspaper and try to convince them to publicize and support your new holiday
“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his . pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
