June 9: Donald Duck Day

Oh boy, Oh boy, Oh boy! It’s Donald Duck Day!

On June 9, 1934, Donald Duck first appeared in a Silly Symphony entitled “The Wise Little Hen,” where he and Peter Pig learn the value of work (after faking stomach aches to get out of it!). Today (June 9, 2012) is his 78th birthday, so join Daisy and throw him a party – Donald Duck cake, movies, the works!

Fun facts:

  • His full name is Donald Fauntleroy Duck.
  • His face was painted one of the planes that flew in the Doolittle Raid in World War II, called the Ruptured Duck.
  • In 1984, Donald got his footprints set outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, and in 2005 he got a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.
To match “The Wise Little Hen:”

“If a man will not work, he shall not eat.”

2 Thessalonians 3:10b
