August 7: National Lighthouse Day

On this day in 1789, the U. S. Congress passed an act to operate and care for the nation’s lighthouses. Now August 7 is celebrated as National Lighthouse Day.

You can celebrate lighthouses today by visiting one, learning about their history, or enjoying stories with lighthouses in them. I’m pretty sure I fell in love with them by reading L. M. Montgomery books, particularly in Anne’s House of Dreams!

“Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light for my path.”

Psalm 119:105
