The Berlin Wall came down on November 9, 1989. However, the formal , reunification of East and West Germany didn’t happen until October 3, 1990. Now October 3 is known as German Unity Day, the end of the Die Wende (the change or turn).
Now all of us (even if we’re not German) can spend the day celebrating German things, from sauerkraut and beer to Bach and Wagner. Have fun!
“How good and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in unity!”
