Monkey Day is one of many holidays that begin simply as a joke among friends and somehow spread across the world. Starting with just a few people at Michigan State University in 2000, it only took a few years for Monkey Day to go global, unlike holidays begun before the internet took off.
On the other hand, if you’re less enthused, you can still eat a banana or some Chunky Monkey ice cream!
And, always remember what Larry the Cucumber taught us: “If it doesn’t have a tail, it’s not a monkey. If it doesn’t have a tail, it’s an ape!”
“All the days of the oppressed are wretched,
but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.”
