pfeffernusse [image credit Durova at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pfeffernuesse.jpg]Pfeffernusse! Despite the number of people saying
bless you,” I didn’t sneeze. Nor is Pfeffernusse a character on Sesame Street, although that could be pretty cool.

A pfeffernusse is a type of German cookie covered in powdered sugar. They are hard for the first week or so, but they tend to get softer with age, so I am told. If you are feeling adventurous and would like to try to make some, here’s a recipe. I haven’t tried it yet, but today would be perfect!

“Be joyful at your Feast—you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the Levites, the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns.”

Deuteronomy 16:14
