January 10 is Houseplant Appreciation Day, so it’s time to pamper all your little flowers. Mine will be so happy, since I neglected them horribly over the holidays. The great thing is that you don’t have to go buy a card, chocolates, or a little gift basket, and if you get flowers, they should definitely come with roots in a pot of some sort, not cut and wrapped in cellophane.
Actually, all a houseplant wants for Houseplant Appreciation Day is some water, some sun, and, if you’re feeling generous, a little plant food or fertilizer. A few words of appreciation wouldn’t be amiss either! (Apparently, there are lots of people out there who like to argue about whether or not talking to your plants helps. So many, that Mythbusters had to test it!)
“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”
1 Corinthians 3:6-7
