January 20: National Cheese Lovers Day

January 20 is National Cheese Lovers Day! I don’t know about you, but I love cheese. It seems that everything is made better with cheese – bread, meat, potatoes, salads, life . . .

cheeseIn fact, I’ve never understood how lactose intolerant people survive. Life without cheese? That sounds so awful!

Cheese lovers everywhere can celebrate this wonderful holiday with any kind of cheesy food or by sampling different cheeses plain. For the adventurous, there are numerous tutorials online with instruction for making cheese at home (like this one). I must admit, there are some cheeses that are just gross, but the good cheeses more than make up for them.

“Did you not pour me out like milk
and curdle me like cheese,
clothe me with skin and flesh
and knit me together with bones and sinews?
You gave me life and showed me kindness,
and in your providence watched over my spirit.”
