January 23 is National Handwriting Day. Established in 1977 by the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association, the holiday encourages people to write something by hand (and thus need to buy more writing instruments, of course 🙂 ). The date was chosen to honor the birth of John Hancock, who sported what is probably the best known signature ever.
There are many things you could write today, but I think anyone would love to receive a handwritten note of some sort. Pretty cards are wonderful, but all you really need is a piece of paper and a pen. And cursive writing is nice, this day is just about handwriting in general, which means I’ll probably stick to my own personal print/cursive hybrid. As long as it’s legible, right?
“See what large letters I use as I write to you with my own hand!”
