January 23: National Handwriting Day

journalJanuary 23 is National Handwriting Day. Established in 1977 by the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association, the holiday encourages people to write something by hand (and thus need to buy more writing instruments, of course 🙂 ). The date was chosen to honor the birth of John Hancock, who sported what is probably the best known signature ever.

Pretty cards are wonderful, but all you really need is a piece of paper and a pen. And cursive writing is nice, this day is just about handwriting in general, which means I’ll probably stick to my own personal print/cursive hybrid. As long as it’s legible, right?
