April 23: World Book and Copyright Day

child-and-book-1366361204W0qIf you’ve read this blog much at all, you’ve probably figured out that I like books. A lot. So there’s just no way I’m going to pass up a UN holiday called World Book and Copyright Day. Usually just abbreviated as World Book Day, this holiday is celebrated on April 23 because that’s when William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes, and other famous authors died (and a few others were born!).

William Shakespeare, English playwright (1565-1616)You can celebrate World Book Day by . . . can you guess? . . . reading a book! I love it!

While you’re reading though, don’t forget that it’s also Talk Like Shakespeare Day, ye readers all! Forsooth, methinks we must practice this pretty speech. 🙂

“Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story—
those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,
those he gathered from the lands,
from east and west, from north and south.”

Psalm 107:2-3
