July 20: Ugly Truck Day

vintage pickup truckHappy Ugly Truck Day! I’m not sure why July 20th celebrates ugly trucks, but it does. We’ve all seen those outrageous trucks, held together by rust and the law of inertia, kept running by duct tape and WD-40.  I suppose, to be honest, we’ve all seen some remarkably ugly brand new pickup truck designs as well, but I prefer celebrating those old trucks today instead.

If you have an old truck, July 20 is the day to be loud and proud, driving it all around town. Have fun!

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

Psalm 20:7

  1. This makes me miss Daniel’s Old Blue!

  3. Maybe I’m weird, but I find that truck to be so interesting looking and not ugly at all.

    • I do think the ugliest trucks I’ve ever seen are some of those that are fresh off the line (especially the ones that “transform” from truck to SUV and back!). However, I don’t think I really want to celebrate those. The old, rusty ones with paint chipping off are so much more interesting, and, yes, beautiful in their own way.

Glad to find someone who sees beauty in what others see as junk!
