October 19*: Sweetest Day

sugar heart candyHappy Sweetest Day!

Sweetest Day, for all my Southern friends, is the other Valentine’s Day celebrated primarily in the northern United States (yes, if you live in the north you get two!). The day was begun in 1921 when twelve Cleveland candymakers decided to create a holiday to distribute candy among the poor of Cleveland. Some 20,000 boxes of candy were given out by lots of volunteers, including some very famous movie stars.

Happy Sweetest Day!

“He who finds a wife finds what is good
and receives favor from the Lord.”

Proverbs 18:22

*Sweetest Day is celebrated on the third Saturday of October.
