October 21: Babbling Day

This, my friends, is my kind of holiday! It’s Babbling Day, which means it’s time to just talk . . . about anything . . . to anyone and everyone.

little-girl-talking-on-phoneYep. It’s my kind of day.

You can chat with your family, call up a friend, start up a conversation with the person in front of you at the grocery store, etc. The opportunities are endless!

What do you want to talk about? Can you believe we had a “wintry mix” last night, and it’s not even November yet? I’m convinced that “wintry mix” always needs to be in quotation marks. Sure, you can have rain, you can snow, you can even have hail, sleet, or fog. But “wintry mix?” I’m still convinced it belongs in quotes, to remind us that we don’t really know what’s happening outside but we really don’t want to be in it.

But, to bring us back to earth:

“A dream comes when there are many cares,
and many words mark the speech of a fool.”

Ecclesiastes 5:3

P. S. Today is also a great food holiday: International Day of the Nacho. Bring on the queso!

October 20: National Suspenders Day

suspendersNo belts today, guys. It’s National Suspenders Day! You can go fancy or casual, colorful patterns or plain neutrals, as long as they’re suspenders.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.”

Luke 12:22-23
